Unconscious Bias Client Project

Why?
Lepaya is an EdTech start-up that focuses on designing and delivering cohort based programs for businesses that develop the soft skills of their clients. As a Learning Experience Designer at Lepaya I worked with our clients to develop bespoke digital experiences to reinforce the learning taking place in our programs. This particular project was for a large international client based out of Dubai who we were working with to develop a program on Unconscious Bias in the workplace.
What?
Typically when delivering a program to a client at Lepaya, it would be a blended program. Meaning a mix of in-person and online learning. However, with this client we decided on a primarily digital approach, as training their thousands of employees in-person be a logistical challenge. The goal was to take activities typically featured in our in-person programs, migrate them to an online format, and have in-person learning for select audiences.
How?
The objective as an external consultant in this situation was to ensure our content connected with the values and brand of our client. With a topic like Unconscious Bias, we wanted the audience of this program to feel it came from a familiar and trusted source. In order to do this, as the Learning Experience Designer, I worked closely with their learning and design team to develop materials that matched their brand. Creating videos, mini-games, and other content that felt aligned with their company identity.
Throughout this project, I used various tools to collaborate with and develop content for the client that was interactive and on brand. Miro was used to collaborate and map out their learning journey. Adobe Premiere Pro and Illustrator was used to design multimedia content and the various visuals used throughout the content. Lastly, I used Articulate Storyline to make specific content interactive to increase engagement.
Once we agreed on a design, which evolved with our iterative approach, I began putting the core Digital Learning activities into Storyline so we could test functionality and get the client using the end product.
This specific activity had learners go through their close friend group and reflect on the different diversity dimensions among them. Providing a scale of how diverse or similar their friend group was.
Once development was underway, and content was being developed, I worked closely with the client to provide regular updates and proof of concepts to ensure we were aligned every step of the way. Here you can see a proof of concept for an activity I built using Illustrator, with the clients brand colours and style. This iterative design approach was essential in getting quick feedback and moving the project forward at a good pace.
The end solution involved several different activities, ranging from Digital Learning, to scenario based activities, and animations. This approach, of providing multiple activities in different mediums was successful in reaching our objective of providing an educational program to a large and diverse audience.
